Transaction History View Suggestion
Herman Hale
I wanted to share some quick feedback about the app after running into a bit of confusion recently. My wife did an unusual amount of transfers back and forth, plus a few payments on behalf of our kids, and because of a delay with one of the bank transactions, it created a mess trying to figure out where the money actually stood in each account.
While reviewing the transaction history to sort it all out, we noticed how tricky it was to follow because the list only shows debit and credit amounts — there’s no running balance next to each transaction like most banks have. Having that running balance would make it so much easier to understand how each transaction affects the total, especially when there are multiple transfers or pending payments happening around the same time.
Beyond making it easier for parents to track and troubleshoot, I think it would also be a great learning tool for kids. Being able to see their balance adjust with each debit, credit, and pending transaction would help them understand how money moves — and how pending purchases can impact their spending power and goals in real time. It’s a small change that could really support the educational side of what Greenlight stands for.
Thanks for all the work your team puts into building such a great platform for families. I just wanted to pass this suggestion along in case it’s something that could be considered for a future update.

Please add the card balance after each transaction
Nathalie Bousquet
It would be great to see for each transaction row what the remaining balance was after the transaction. I can never figure out if the total balance at the top includes or excludes pending transactions and seeing what the balance was right before would help a lot!
Thank you!
Love the app by the way!

Need to see how much money they have left. Need to see a running balance remaining, which includes any pending transactions - just like looking at youR checking account online.
Some of these transactions are taking days to clear, leading son to believe he has money left when he doesn’t.

Thanks for your feedback, Steven! We’ll pass this along.

Mobile check deposit

Sometimes my kids get checks for birthdays and holidays from their older relatives and it would be nice to be able to mobile deposit them. It is a pain to have to go into a local bank to do it when they have an account through Greenlight. Also, showing the running balance with the transactions would also be a nice feature.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on mobile deposits and running balances with us, Cathy. We are always working to improve our Greenlight experience and will be sure to pass your feedback along to the team.

Pending charges should be debited from account immediately.
Joanie Smith
When a charge is made on a card, typically banks immediately debit the account so that the total available fund reflects the most recent charge. The Greenlight card seems to note new charges as "pending" but does not do the subtraction. This is confusing to users because they need to look at the balance and then subtract all pending charges before knowing how much money they have available. My son only looks at the balance and finds it frustrating when he is declined and it looks like there is money in his account.

Thank you for sharing this with us, Joanie. Your child's account should reflect the correct balance in the app when a purchase is made whether the charge is pending or if it has fully settled. We would like to look into this for you but need a little more information. A Greenlight team member will be in touch with you shortly.
