Repeated daily up for grabs chores start unassigned every day
David Weller
I want any of my three children to be able to compete for a single chore. A repeated up for grabs chore that is assigned specific amount on completion, such as dishes, that is a repeating chore but only allows to be selected and completed by one child each day, first come first served. Today one an up for grabs repeating chore is selected by a child, all reoccurrence are assigned to that child. If a daily repeating chores has all three children assigned, all three can mark as done and get paid, it should only be paid for the first child to make it.

100% echo all this. Please make this change!
Would like reoccurring chores that can be completed weekly and aren’t tied to individual family members. Would like for any of my kids to be able to “claim” that chore for only a single week, then it’s available for someone else to complete the following week. For example: clean cat box, drag trash to the curb, etc
Would also like the ability for parents to check off the chore if a parent completed it.

Recurring Up For Grabs Chores
E
Eric Dalquist
I want to create a recurrent up for grabs chore that either kid can claim each week.
For example "Vacuum the couch" It can be done at most once per week and either kid can do it.
Right now as soon as one kid does it once it is now "their chore" for the rest of the series and I can't even make in "up for grabs" again without editing/deleting the chore.

I realize now this is a duplicate of https://greenlightapp.canny.io/feedback/p/repeated-daily-up-for-grabs-chores-start-unassigned-every-day

+1 this missing feature is likely going to be a deal-breaker for our family using Greenlight. We have a number of "has to be done by someone once a week" chores and the inability to create an ongoing "up for grabs" chore is just a basic functionality miss.

This is such a basic function (function, not a feature) for a chore app, and should be one of the top priorities for the Greenlight dev team. I can’t believe that this app has existed this long without this, and I can’t believe that this post was created in December 2025 and the change hasn’t been developed and implemented as of April 2026. This is indicative of where the company’s priorities are — spoiler, it’s not user experience. I just signed up, and will likely cancel my subscription because this functionality doesn’t exist.

This needs to happen asap. I just left my other chore tracking app to use Greenlight and this is so disappointing.

Checking in - any chance this has been vetted, groomed and on a roadmap yet ;)

David Weller: Thanks, David! Feedback like yours helps us prioritize future updates. We're happy to share that our product team is looking into ways we can add the option to edit/reassign daily "up for grabs" chores to our app in the future and offer a best-in-class customer experience. We’ll be sure to update our families when this feature becomes available.

YES YES YES! Detach "Up for Grabs" chores from any 'assignment' or schedule.
I want to create a list of chores, give a dollar value to each one, and then be done. No schedule, no assignment to kids.
If a chore is done, it should remain available to the other kids. Even minimally setting "Daily" as a schedule is not enough--I have three and the loads of laundry needing to be done in one day alone, or walking the dog multiple times a day cannot be assigned to a single child.
Make it simpler! List of chores, dollar value per chore. No scheduling, no assignments. When a child does a chore, they submit they've done it, and it remains in the list available to all the other kids.
I can't tell you how disappointed I was that "Up for Grabs" really means "Some presets that then get permanently assigned to a single child until you manually reset the chore and schedule it again."

100%. Without this, I can’t use Greenlight to manage the chores for my kids. I assumed I wasn’t u errands g how to use it but, with how it is today, it is unusable.

Up-for-Grabs Chores Not Resetting After Completion
M
Myranda McDonald
Hello Greenlight Support Team,
I’m writing to report an issue with how “Up for Grabs” chores function in the app.
For chores that are set to repeat (weekly), once a child grabs the chore the first time, it appears to remain assigned to that child permanently instead of going back up for grabs for the next cycle. This defeats the purpose of using the “Up for Grabs” option.
The intent is for these chores to reset and be available for competition each time they repeat. When they stay assigned after the first grab, one child ends up holding all the chores, motivation drops, and other children begin skipping or avoiding the most important household tasks.
To work as intended, repeating “Up for Grabs” chores need to:
• Reset after completion
• Return to the Up for Grabs pool each cycle
• Not stay permanently assigned once claimed the first time
Please let me know if this is a known issue, a setting I’m missing, or a feature that can be updated. This functionality is critical for keeping chores fair, motivating, and completed consistently.
Thank you for your help,
Myranda
