I see that there was a thread about this last year but in my opinion the ads are still intrusive. I particularly dislike the ones directly encouraging my child to ask me to upgrade, but really all of them are distractions and impede access to what should be at-a-glance "dashboard" information. I am well aware of what other services are available and have already made my choices. Continuously presenting the same information only detracts from the value of your service.
