Hello Greenlight Team,
I really enjoy using your investing platform as a way for minors like me to gain experience with the market. I especially appreciate the ability to buy partial shares and how easy the platform is to use. While I understand Greenlight's goal is to provide a simple platform for beginners, as I've gained experience, I've found myself wishing for a few additional features that would assist your users.
I have used platforms such as TradingView, which has much more to give once one learns enough, which is why I use it for almost all of my research. I have also paper traded on these platforms, and it has taught me much more about risk management, reading charts, and making better informed decisions which the current Greenlight investing platform does not yet offer.
The first feature that I am requesting is a greater list of the basic orders. I know that some orders, such as trailing stops, might be too complex for someone just starting out, but I believe basic stop-loss and take-profit orders are necessary tools to have. Not only do they help limit losses, but they also can cut screen time as I do not have to constantly watch a trade. In my opinion, these are very important for everyone to learn.
The second feature that I would like to see is the ability to short an asset instead of only being able to take long positions. I know that there are inverse ETFs for many tickers, but surprisingly most of them are -2x and do not have a -1x. This is a problem because leveraged ETFs experience some volatility decay due to their daily reset, making them much riskier for someone just taking a simple short position.
Thank you again for creating such a great place for people my age to learn and have experience with trading and investing. I think the platform is well run and does an excellent job serving its target audience. The main additions which I would enjoy are stop-losses, take-profits, and short selling. I believe these features would help your users become more experienced investors and traders while still supporting the Greenlight mission.
Sincerely,
C. Armstrong
