Allow for recurring jobs &/or weighting value of chores
in progress
Sherry Lewkowicz
I would really like to set up recurring jobs so I can make a particular activity worth more. The other option would be to let me weight a chore—allow it to count toward a greater percentage of their weekly allowance. Either way, I need an easy way to have a recurring task that is worth more than the others. (For my son, it’s changing the cat litter. It’s really a weekly chore, but I currently make it a job so he gets more for it—I’d love to be able to keep it with chores but have it worth more there.

As part of this, would be fantastic if job payments could be split into different accounts by percentage, the same way allowance is!

Yes! Need jobs to be reoccuring and also need to be able to set value amount for each chore. Some chores are worth more than others.

I second having reoccurring job options!!!!

I second this and would love to see recurring jobs. For example, changing the sheets on the bed. If you want to be gross and not change your sheets, fine, but if you do it, you'll get paid an extra $2. It's a pain to have to re-enter this job every single week, but it's an optional chore so I don't want to tie it to allowance!

Repeat Jobs

Once I enter a job, it would be nice for it to be stored somewhere to quickly add it again. For example, I might have "wash car" with detailed instructions. It would be nice to quickly click on a bank of my jobs and add it again.

Household Jobs

I would like a job board on the household level and the ability to give jobs set repeatability. Each child would be able to log into their account and see both the shared household job list and their individual job list. Being able to set recurring extra jobs with a repeatability cap would be helpful as well. For example, “cycle the fish tank” with the ability to complete and get paid 1x per month or “make dinner” with the ability to complete and get paid 2x per week.

Thank you for sharing this with us, Sarah. We've received similar requests from other parents and we will merge your suggestions with our "recurring jobs" feedback thread.

Jackie - second Sarah’s request for the recurring jobs with a limit, but also without being tied to a specific date or day of the week!
Example: unloading and loading the dishwasher is ad hoc. Sometimes it’s x1 every few days, sometimes it’s every day. I don’t want to require it be daily (chore), but need to always recreate the Job for them to get credit if they do it more than once! I also don’t want them to say they did the dish washer 5x that day.

My wife and I have been diving into your new Jobs Feature and we're truly excited about its potential for helping us manage and reward our kids' tasks. I have a few ideas that I think could make this feature even more versatile and user-friendly:
Recur Upon Completion: It would be amazing if jobs could automatically reset once they’re completed. This would allow for tasks like "Read a 100-page book and earn $5" to be done multiple times a day—perfect for fostering good habits!
Recur on Date/Time: Similar to how Google Calendar works, having flexible scheduling rules could really help us plan out tasks that fit perfectly into busy days.
Recur on Expiration: Some jobs might only be relevant for a short time, so having them expire and then come back at a specific time would be super helpful for seasonal or time-sensitive tasks.
Seasonal Recurring Jobs: Speaking of seasons, wouldn’t it be neat to have jobs that pop up just during certain times of the year? Think raking leaves in fall or maybe some festive holiday tasks.
Recur Based on External Triggers: How cool would it be if some jobs could be linked to external factors like the weather? For instance, "Water the garden" could appear as a task only on dry days.
Progressive Difficulty Jobs: Lastly, it would be fantastic if tasks could evolve in difficulty and reward. Starting with something simple and building up as those tasks are mastered could keep things challenging and fun.
We really think these enhancements could make the Jobs Feature a standout, giving us parents even more ways to tailor chores to our kids’ needs and interests.
Thanks so much for considering our suggestions. We’re excited to see how these could be brought to life, making things even better for families like ours!

Chais Meyer I agree to this! I have my kids water the plants & garden. Then shovel snow in the winter.
